Sample Chapter and Table of Contents

Hi. We’re so glad you decided to drop by.

Here you can read the sample chapter:

We’ve also included the “Table of Contents,” after the sample chapter. And we know what you’re thinking: “Who wants to read a table of contents?”

But hear us out. Not only have we given the headlines some funny sub-headings (at least we think so), but the chapters are also divided into sections. And each section also has its own funny headline.

And all these can be seen in the table of contents. So, we really, really hope you’ll skim through it, as we feel that these headlines will give you a sense of the crazy, far-out humor that this book contains. Plus, there are some hidden “Easter egg” references to movies, books, etc. in some of the headlines.

Super Quick Notes to “Set the Scene” for the Sample Chapter

Now… back to setting the scene for the sample chapter with some super quick notes about the Smirtz Universe. (But if you think you already got the basic idea from surfing around on this site, you can skip this part.)

Smirtz is an 11-year-old boy, who never means to do anything wrong, yet still manages to end up in a lot of trouble.

He has a best friend called Heinrich. They’re in the same class at school with their classmate Tinka. She’s a super cool, strong, fast, smart, and quick-witted girl, who Smirtz really likes (as a friend… of course).

The book has a narrator who most of the time just tells the story like a normal narrator. But occasionally, he does decide to address the reader directly, with the words: “Dear Children.” (And please don’t be offended if you’re not a child. Our narrator is severely unhinged, and the fact that he addresses everyone as “Dear Children” is the least of his problems.) Also, this “directly addressed narrator text” is always written in the same special format and typography.

That’s it! Now you’re all set for the sample chapter. (See… we promised it would be some super quick notes.) Enjoy!
